KOLBY & REISTEN
You can also look forward to Kolby Winery and Reisten Winery – two renowned Moravian wineries whose wines are deeply rooted in the unique terroir of Pálava.

Kolby Winery takes its name from the nearby Kolby hillside, located on the edge of the Pouzdřanská Steppe National Nature Monument. This unique location lends our wines their distinctive character.
The terraces of the Kolby vineyard are dominated by loamy loess soils with excellent heat-retaining properties. Together with the unique local microclimate, they create a distinctive and exceptional steppe terroir that is unmistakably reflected in the aromas and flavors of all our Kolby wines, giving them their own unique signature.
Kolby offers a diverse range of wines, from young, light wines with fresh acidity to mature, full-bodied and mineral-driven wines.
The winery’s flagship varieties include Riesling, Welschriesling and Pinot Blanc among the white varieties, while Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are the leading red varieties.

Reisten
Pálava differs from other wine-growing regions in Moravia due to its higher content of free lime in the soil. The relatively thin layer of soil covering the rocky bedrock forces the vines to spread their root systems across the rock, where they are washed by highly mineralized water flowing down from the exposed limestone during rainfall. These unique conditions give the wines their distinctive character, marked by pronounced minerality.
Typical white varieties include Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, while the red varieties Merlot and Pinot Noir also achieve excellent quality. The winery was the overall winner of the 12th edition of the prestigious Winery of the Year 2021 competition.
At both wineries, vineyard work is carried out predominantly by hand and with the utmost care. The vines are not overburdened, and great attention is paid to their proper and thorough care throughout the year.
Both modern techniques and traditional methods are used in the winemaking process, with the aim of achieving the highest possible quality. The key techniques include extended skin maceration, gentle pressing and clarification, followed by ageing on fine lees. Vinification takes place in both stainless steel tanks and oak barrels.
