The WINE Prague 2026 trade fair will also feature the Italian winery Terre del Barolo, founded in 1958 in Castiglione Falletto. Today, it brings together around 300 wine-growing families who collectively cultivate some 600 hectares of vineyards, and is one of the region’s leading producers of Barolo.

Stefano Pesci, Sales Manager: “Terre del Barolo winery was founded on 8 December 1958 in Castiglione Falletto by Arnaldo Rivera, teacher and mayor of the town, and 22 growers in the various villages in the neighbourhood. This number quickly increased, and by the first harvest in 1959 there were already 360 members. Today the winery is the main Barolo producer of the area, with 300 grower families, owners of about 600 hectares of vineyards. The 50’s and 60’s were difficult years for the wine market in Italy, but right from the outset sound and diligent management has allowed the company to pursue a philosophy based on quality, commercial reliability and genuine local wines. The winery has strongly contributed to build the reputation of these products, and consequently to the economy of the whole wine-growing area around Alba, absorbing a considerable proportion of the total production of grapes. In 1978, anticipating the self-control regulation in force today, Terre del Barolo introduced a technical assistance program for its grower members, encouraging them to protect their vineyards by the joint purchasing of organic compounds and natural fertilizers. These grapes are vinified following traditional procedures using modern technology. The wine with the largest production today is Barolo d.o.c.g., which undergoes the main part of its ageing (a total of 38 months) in French and Slavonian oak casks; all other traditional appellations produced with local grapes (Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto) are available as well.”
