Weingut Sonnenhügel |at the Wine Prague 2020

The winery Sonnenhügel is the family winery from the village of Unterretzbach, which is located in the Weinviertel region near the border with the Czech Republic. One of our wineyards gives the name of the winery. The SONNENHÜGEL means in English Sunny hill.

The winemaker Christoph Schleinzer, together with his wife, took over the winery from his ancestors and quickly developed into one of the most renowned wineries in the Retzer Land region. The award “Winemaker of the year” and numerous awards are the confirmation of the passion and dedication that the family puts into their wines.

The winery not only produces wines of typical varieties - the Grüner Veltliner and other white wines, which are traditionally associated with the Retzer Land region, but are well-known by production of the best quality red wines. Distinctive, intense wines with character and charm are Passion of the winemaker.
