Winzerhof Sax |at the Wine Prague 2018
The estate is located in the municipality Langenlois in the Lower Austrian wine region Kamptal . The farm is managed by Rudolf Sax, who was bred by twin brothers Rudolf jr. and Michael Sax is supported. The vineyard area totals 22 hectares, for example the vineyards Fraupoint, Liß, Panzaun , Schenkenbichl , Spiegel , Steinhaus and Steinmassl . They are planted with the white varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Frühroter Veltliner, as well as with the red varieties Zweigelt and Blauer Portugieser. It is practiced near-natural viticulture with, for example, minimal use of pesticides. Quality criteria are consistent pruning and targeted, tailored to the respective grape variety foliage work. The vinification is done with the latest cellar technology. The grapes are processed with extremely gentle pressing. Depending on the type, the wines are aged in steel tanks, large wooden barrels or barriques. The white wines ripen before being marketed for a few months at the bottle store. The premium wines include various Rieslings and Grüner Veltliner Kamptal DAC . It also produces wine chocolate and apricot brandy.
