Weingut Humer |at the Wine Prague 2019
Humer winery is located on the southeast slopes of the Manhartsberg. Aside from the climate, the particular make-up of the soil in this region affects the character of our wines. Sand, clay, loess, and in some cases prehistoric rocks create unique conditions in which our grapes can grow.
The winery has been a family business for two generations, with Margit and Andreas Humer managing the business since 1996. First and foremost, their attention is focused on growing grapes, where only the highest quality can assure a satisfactory outcome. A combination of traditional knowledge and experience with modern technology allows they to make a selection of recurring wines, as well as ones that are unique to the particular year. Their 21 hectares of vineyards are cared for meticulously, with an emphasis on quality over quantity, thus giving their wines an unmistakeable character. In particular, they make an effort to conform to KIP regulations to ensure the protection of the local environment and ecology. In their cellar, is kept at a temperature of 10°C, their red wines are kept in wooden barrels, while their white wines are stored in stainless steel tanks.
Their regional classic, the Grüne Veltliner, appears in multiple variations, including as the Weinviertel DAC. Unique vintages and sweet wines are also on offer, including Roter Veltliner, Frühroter Veltliner, Rivaner, Weißburgunder, Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Zweigelt, Blauer Portugieser and Blauburger.
