In a little over 35 years, what is now Halewood International Holdings PLC has grown from a start-up company to become the UK’s largest independent drinks manufacturer and distributor, selling over 20 million cases each year and exporting to 75 countries. Employing just under 1,000 drinks specialists worldwide, the Halewood International Group has five operations outside the UK - South Africa, China, Thailand, Ireland and Romania.
In 1987 the company initiated first contacts with Romania, by importing local wines and ten years later, Halewood’s first Romanian subsidiary was founded.
Today, after an investment of 10 million Euros, the company owns five subsidiaries in Romania, and is one of the largest drinks company, with an extended and diverse portfolio of wines, spirits and water. In addition, the company is one of the largest wine importers in the country, distributing some of the most prestigious wine brands, from famous wine producers around the world.
Investment has been made in expanding and planting over 200 hectares of vineyards, strategically placed in the most famous vinicultural areas such as Dealu Mare and Murfatlar. The creation of a sophisticated winery and bottling plant has provided the framework for a highly successful wine operation.
